Can a Parent Come With Me During My Driving Lesson?

Published on 2021-08-17 in Driving Lessons

Driving lessons can be a nerve-wracking experience, both for students and parents. We understand that getting in the car with a stranger can be the cause of some anxiety. Many parents (and students) may wonder if a parent can ride along during a driving lesson.

The Answer: Yes!

To help ease some of that worry for both parents and students, Coastline Academy does allow parents to accompany their teen at the time of the lesson! One parent or guardian is allowed to ride along during the lesson.

During the lesson, we ask for all cell phones to be turned off and all questions to be asked at the end of the driving lesson. Remember, this is the student's time to learn.

Driving Instructor Criteria

What if you don't want to ride along, but are still nervous about sending your teen off to their first driving lesson? To help make this situation easier to handle, know that all of our instructors are background checked, Live-scanned and licensed by a state driving agency.

If you decide to stay at home during your teen's driving lesson, that's okay! We still encourage parents or guardians to meet their teen's driving instructor before their first time on the road. While a parent or guardian is not required to be present at the time of pick up for the lesson, as long as the student has their original learners permit with them, it's always nice for everyone to check in before that first time on the road.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to our friendly support team and make sure to book your driving lesson today and learn to drive from one of our certified Coastline driving instructors!
