Can You Take Driver's Ed Online?
We all have busy lives these days - school, work, friends - it can be hard to fit everything into one day! As a new driver, you may be required to take a driver's education course as part of your licensing process. While some states offer these courses through your local high school, many states do not, and even if they do, who has the time?
Can You Take Driver's Training Online?
It depends on where you live.
Many states that require a driver's education component in the licensing process will allow for online coursework in lieu of in-person, classroom learning. This can be a convenient alternative for many teens and adults who already have full calendars, and an online course will deliver the same important (and legally mandated) information about state driving laws, vehicle basics, and defensive driving maneuvers, to name a few.
In addition to driver's education, many states also require at the very least, a certain number of hours of behind-the-wheel practice with a licensed adult. Other states may also necessitate that you take professional driving lessons from a state-certified driving school. And as far as technology has come these days, that's one thing you can't do online, so make sure you carve out enough hours per week to accommodate both your lessons and driving practice.
As always, check in with your State Licensing Office for details and reach out to our friendly and knowledgable Support Team with any questions. Happy driving!
