Can You Take Me On the Driving Test Route to Practice?

Published on 2020-04-07 in Driving Lessons

Here at Coastline, our certified instructors will do everything in their power to prepare you for your road test. This being said, we do not take students on the actual state driving test routes.

Why not?

Driving is an inherently dynamic experience. Memorizing a few traffic lights or speed limit signs, while helpful, is not enough to prepare you to pass your driving test, nor is it enough to set you up to be the best and safest driver you can be.

What we can prepare you for are the individual skills you will be tested on, which may range from residential and commercial driving skills to parking and U-turns! During the course of your lessons, we will instruct you in a manner that leaves you feeling solid and confident in the fundamental skills which will be covered on your driving test. In addition to this, we will also administer a mock driving test (NOT on the official testing route) during your final lesson, which is a great way to simulate the experience (and nerves!) of sitting in the car with your examiner while being given directions in a testing environment.

We encourage student drivers preparing for their state road test to practice driving in the immediate neighborhood surrounding their prospective driving test site during their non-lesson practice time, meaning the time you spend in the car with your parent or other adult in the passenger seat. This way you can familiarize yourself with any possible tricky intersections the examiner may take you through during the test!

Remember!

Driving lessons are not only about the driving test. Here at Coastline, we aim to teach safe and confident drivers, for life.
