Can Drivers Ed Certificate Expire?

Published on 2021-10-07 in Drivers Ed

If you are going through the driver's license process, then you know it can be a very stressful time. For most states, the first step in the process would be to complete a Drivers Ed course depending on your age, which Coastline Academy offers online. Once that is completed, you will receive a certificate of completion for your Drivers Ed course, but can Drivers Ed certificate expire?

Drivers Ed Certificate

With your certificate in hand, you are probably wondering how long you have before you need to head to your local DMV office to take the written test and get your permit. You may be worried that the certificate will expire and you may have to retake the Drivers Ed course.

That is not the case! Based on your state's rules for getting your driver's license, the certificate should be good to go and will never expire. For instance, in California, your Drivers Ed certificate is valid until you turn 17 and 1/2 years old. If you are at least 17 and 1/2 years old, then you do not have to complete drivers education or drivers training lessons.

In Texas, the written test expires after two years, but the certificate remains valid. To sum it up, your Drivers Ed certificate will never expire, so no need to worry!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our friendly support staff. If you want to start your driver's training journey with Coastline Academy, make sure to sign up for Drivers Ed and book your driving lesson today.
