How Does Drivers Ed Work?
As any young driver may have come across, trying to figure out the rules and regulations for obtaining a drivers license can get intense. Each state is different, but most states require teen drivers to take a driver's education course, so how does Drivers Ed work? We break it down for you below!
What Is Drivers Ed?
When it comes to drivers education, students are taught the techniques of driving a vehicle, as well as basic vehicle maintenance, safety precautions, traffic regulations and laws. Drivers Ed is a great way for new drivers to learn the rules of the road before getting behind the wheel themselves.
The Syllabus
Depending on how many hours your state requires, driver's ed can be done in a classroom or online, like the course offered by Coastline Academy. Our courses can be broken down into the following syllabus:
- Chapter 1: Driving Is Your Responsibility
- Chapter 2: Human Factors Affecting the Driver
- Chapter 3: Natural Forces Affecting the Vehicle
- Chapter 4: Traffic Signs, Signals and Road Markings
- Chapter 5: Vehicle Systems
- Chapter 6: Defensive Driving, Speed, Lanes, Intersections and More
- Chapter 7: Sharing the Road, Causes of Accidents and Accident Prevention
- Chapter 8: Alcohol, Drugs and Driving
- Chapter 9: Licensing, Registration and Laws for Your Specific State
- Chapter 10: Earning a Drivers License in Your State
Benefits of an Online Course
With an online course, instead of spending hours in a classroom, you can take it right on your phone, laptop or tablet. It’s up to you, take the course how you want! Plus, go at your own pace. You could work on it for a few hours one night and then come back and do another hour two days later. No set schedule, but log into your account and work at your pace! In the end, you will get a certificate of completion to take with you to the DMV office to get your learner's permit.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our friendly support staff. If you want to start your driver's training journey with Coastline Academy, make sure to sign up for Drivers Ed and book your driving lesson today.
