Can Students Schedule One Hour Driving Lessons At Coastline Academy in California?

As you work your way through the driver's license process in California, you know that you are required to complete six hours of professional driving lessons if you are under 18. At Coastline Academy, we offer driving lessons in 2-hour increments throughout California. Two hours in the car can seem like a long time! Some students and parents may want to know if lessons can be scheduled in one-hour chunks, to make the time feel more manageable.

Scheduling Your Driving Lessons

Here at Coastline Academy, our driving lessons are scheduled in two hour blocks at all times.

We understand that driving for two hours can seem like a lot. Our instructors break these sessions down into many smaller segments, mixing up learning and teaching styles to keep lessons engaging. We also often take a small break in the middle to stretch our legs, admire a great parking job, and to review material. It may not seems like at first, but two hours fly by while you are learning behind-the-wheel. We have taught over 30,000 lessons in this format and believe it's a great way for new drivers to learn!

For Transfer Students

If you are a student that has completed lessons with another school and you want Coastline to apply those hours towards your required six hours, then we can apply the approved proof of hours in any amount. However, you will still be required to complete your lessons with Coastline in two-hour blocks to meet your driving lesson requirements.

This may cause you to exceed six total hours of instructor training. The good news is that those extra hours do count towards the additional 50 hours of practice driving you are required to complete by the State of California. Regardless of whether your total hours exceed six at the time of your third lesson, your certificate of completion will be issued to you once you have met that six-hour threshold.
