If you are between 15 and 17½ years old, you must pass a state-approved Drivers Ed course and receive your completion certificate before taking your written test at the DMV.

Driving lessons in Tehachapi are set against the unique backdrop of the Tehachapi Mountains. As a key city in Kern County, it bridges the San Joaquin Valley with the Mojave Desert. This geography is an ideal training ground, allowing new drivers to learn on varied terrain and build a solid foundation for handling diverse road conditions from the very start.
Students begin by mastering fundamentals on calm residential streets before progressing to more active routes. An important part of the curriculum is navigating CA-58, which provides crucial experience with merging and managing highway speeds. Practice drives toward nearby Mojave help expose learners to different traffic patterns, preparing them for regional travel.
We offer flexible pickup and drop-off at home, school, or work when available. To accommodate various schedules, some lessons may begin at convenient meeting points in the area, which will be shown once you start searching availability.
