How Long After my Third Lesson Will I Receive My Completion Certificate in California?

Published on 2020-04-07 in Driving Lessons

In California, in order to be eligible to receive your Certificate of Completion, you are required to have completed six hours of behind-the-wheel lessons with a certified, licensed driving instructor (each lesson is two hours long).

At the end of your third lesson, your instructor will fill out your "Golden Ticket," or Completion Certificate to match your name and other information on your learner's permit. Your instructor will then sign and date the certificate with their information and give you or your parents/guardians this document.

Do not lose this paper!

You will not be allowed to take your behind-the-wheel driving test at the DMV if you do not bring your completed Golden Ticket. If you lose your certificate, please contact the driving school you took your last lesson with immediately to order a replacement.

Remember!

Only students who are under 18 and plan on taking their road test before their 18th birthday are required to submit a Certificate of Completion to the DMV. If you are an adult learner (18 or older), you will not need to worry about this document!

Happy driving!
