Starting November 2026, we are excited to announce that Right Way Driving School in Palmdale and Santa Clarita, California, is now a part of Coastline Academy.

If you take lessons with Right Way Driving School, nothing about them changes. Same instructor, same schedule, same phone number. There is nothing you need to do to keep them.

Coastline started in California and is the largest driving school in the country, with over 150,000 five-star reviews from students across 7 states. We're on a mission to eradicate car crashes by teaching safe and confident drivers for life. Bringing Right Way Driving School's roots in southern California together with our instructor training and technology is how we do that here.

Read below for more on what stays the same, what's new, and answers to the questions we hear most. We add to this page as new questions come in.

Frequently Asked Questions

About the change

Is Right Way closing?

No. Right Way is open and operating, now as a part of Coastline Academy, which means new ownership, not a closure.

What happened to Right Way?

Right Way joined Coastline Academy, the largest driving school in the country. We're still the same local team. What changes is the technology and systems behind the scenes, now supplemented and supported by Coastline to make students safer, more confident drivers.

Who is Coastline Academy?

Coastline is the largest and fastest growing driving school in the country, operating in 7 states, with over 150,000 five-star reviews and more than 250,000 students taught. Coastline is on a mission to eradicate car crashes by teaching safe and confident drivers for life.

Your program of instruction

Do I lose the lessons I already paid for?

No. Any lessons you purchased and haven't used carry over in full.

Is my scheduled lesson still happening?

Yes. Every lesson already on the calendar stays on the calendar, at the same date and time.

Will I keep my instructor?

Previously scheduled lessons will remain unchanged. If changes need to be made to lesson dates, times, or instructors, we'll give you a heads up in advance, as always.

Reaching us

Is the phone number changing?

No. (661) 288-2256 and info.rightwayds@gmail.com still reach the same team.

Can I still book by phone?

Yes. Online booking is available, but if you prefer to book by phone, call (661) 288-2256 and the local team will book you.

I have a question that isn't answered here.

You may continue to call or email the local team.

Your account and logging in

Do I need to do anything?

Keep booking and calling exactly the way you do now. The only thing you'll ever need to do is log in to your new Coastline account once your login email arrives. We email you about a week before your account moves, and again on the day it happens.

When does my account move to the new booking system?

We email you about a week before the switch, and again on the day it happens. Until then, book and call the way you always have. If that day has already passed and you haven't set up your login, see the next question.

How do I log in?

When your account moves, you get an email from hello@coastlineacademy.com with the subject "Right Way Driving School: Important Account Information." It contains your login information. If you can't find it, check your spam folder, then call (661) 288-2256 and we'll get you in.

Once you're set up, you sign in at coastlineacademy.com/sign-in.

I already have a Coastline account. What happens?

You won't get a new login. Sign in with the account you have and your Right Way history will be there.

I never got the login email. What do I do?

Check your spam folder first, for an email from hello@coastlineacademy.com. If it isn't there, call (661) 288-2256 and we'll help you get into your account.

Cars, courses, and paperwork

Are the cars changing?

Over time, yes. Coastline vehicles have a second instructor brake, are clearly marked as driving school vehicles, and are inspected by a BAR-certified mechanic. Every Coastline employee clears an independent background and drug screen.

I'm partway through a driver's ed course. What happens to it?

You can continue anything you're working on in the course you started. Certificates already issued remain valid. New enrollments after a future date will use Coastline's online course instead.

Does this affect my DMV paperwork or my road test?

No. Certificates and completion records already issued remain valid. If you need a copy of a document from your time with Right Way, call us and the office can pull it.

Questions? Call (661) 288-2256 or email info.rightwayds@gmail.com.
