What Do I Need to Bring to My Lesson?

Published on 2020-04-07 in Driving Lessons

Afraid you'll need your entire bag or backpack for your lesson? We have good news for you!

The checklist of items you will need to bring to every lesson is quite short. Before you leave the house, work, or school, make sure you have the following:

  • A valid, physical learner's permit (phone photos or paper copies do not count and cannot be used to take a lesson)
  • A positive attitude

If you're 18 or over, it's also a good idea to bring a piece of identification with you.

What About My Phone?

We know that everyone carries their cellphone around with them 24/7 these days. While you may be allowed to bring your phone in case of emergency, you will have to do one of the following before the lesson begins:

  • Allow the instructor to place your phone in the glove compartment or other secured area
  • Keep your phone in a bag or backpack, which will be stored in the backseat or trunk

You may not drive with your cellphone handy. Even keeping a phone in your pocket can be a distraction, as any buzzes or sounds from notifications may take your attention away from the road. Put your phone on silent and keep it away from your person during your lesson. Remember, cell phone use while driving is not only dangerous, but illegal.

Do I Need Anything Else?

Nope! We'll handle everything else for your lesson, including bringing the car, the curriculum, and the teaching experience to help you become a safe and confident driver for life.
