We understand how stressful it can be to line up at the DMV to take your behind the wheel test, and we are here to help make the experience better for you. We've helped people of all ages learn to drive and get their license, and we want to help you too!
When you take your test with Coastline, your instructor will start by picking you up and giving you a one-hour lesson on the way to the DMV and in the area where you'll be driving for your test. This will help you get comfortable with all the maneuvers you'll be asked to perform in the test. Then your instructor will head into the DMV with you to help you navigate the process, and stay with you until the examiner takes over. You'll then use our car for your DMV road test.
The test lesson is not to teach you to drive, but to refine your skills and set you up for the best chance of passing the test.

We will work with you to find the right time based on when you have your test scheduled at the DMV. Send us a text or call us at (800) 489-1896 to get started. We will quickly find the right availability for you and get you booked in.
Yes, you still need to book with the DMV. A good strategy is to check our availability first to be sure we have an instructor ready to take you to your test.
The DMV behind the wheel road test lesson is a 3-hour session, so it costs more than a regular lesson. This gives us enough time to do a prep lesson, and to get through the testing process at the DMV. You can text or call us for a price, or visit our pricing page to see the prices in your area before reaching out to book.
We do not practice the actual test route. We believe that people who learn to drive well should pass the test, no matter what the route may be. So although we will practice exactly what you will be tested on, we will not do so in the exact same route as used by the DMV. Note that it is strictly against DMV rules to teach on the actual route, and we take this very seriously.
