Steps to Getting Your License
Use this guide to make sure you are in the right place in your licensing journey.
Before you can take your written test at PENNDOT, you'll need to be 16 years old. Pass your test to receive your Learner's Permit.
While optional in Pennsylvania, we highly recommend taking at least one driving lesson with a professional instructor.
Before you can take your road test, you must log 65 hours of driving practice, including 10 hours at night and five (5) hours of bad weather driving.
After holding your permit for at least 6 months, you can take your road test. Want to skip the line at PENNDOT? Take your test with us!
Whether it's your first time behind the wheel or you need a brush up before your test, we offer driving education that will make you a safer, more confident driver for life.

Driving lessons in Shillington provide the perfect environment to build essential driving skills. Students begin by mastering fundamentals like smooth acceleration, braking, and steering on quiet residential streets. This setting is ideal for practicing three-point turns and parallel parking without pressure. As confidence grows, the focus shifts to navigating local intersections, developing the crucial hazard awareness and decision-making abilities required for safe driving.
Once comfortable with local roads, lessons advance to busier thoroughfares like US-222. This is key to learning how to merge safely, maintain proper following distance, and navigate lane changes confidently. Practicing these skills on routes toward nearby Reading prepares students for the variety of traffic conditions they will encounter, making them well-rounded drivers ready for trips throughout the area.
We offer flexible pickup and drop-off at home, school, or work when available. To accommodate various schedules, some lessons may begin at convenient meeting points in the area, which will be shown once you start searching availability.
Our goal is to empower new drivers with the defensive techniques and awareness needed for a lifetime of safe travel. We focus on translating structured lessons into the practical, real-world confidence required to navigate daily commutes and new destinations with ease.
Every lesson is custom-made to help you succeed.

- If I don't have an account or credit yet, ask me where I'll take lessons, find my location page at https://coastlineacademy.com/locations, and summarize the packages there that include driving lessons. Course-only packages don't include lesson credit.
- You can't buy a package or sign contracts for me. When I've picked a package, send me the link so I can check out myself.
